It looks like Hugo Lloris’s time with Tottenham has come to an end.
Tottenham announced their 31-man roster for their preseason Asia-Pacific tour. Missing from that list is French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. According to the club, Lloris has been given permission to not travel with the squad to look at prospective transfer possibilities.
Spurs’s captain has been with Tottenham since 2012 when he joined the club from Lyon in France. Since then, he has made 447 appearances for the North London club.
After being the club’s No. 1 for a decade, however, it looks like Lloris’s time in the English capital has come to an end. With only one year remaining on his contract, he will look for a new club this summer rather than running down his contract.
“We are coming to an important moment, whether for the club or for me,” Lloris said in an interview with French newspaper Nice-Martin. “It’s the end of an era. I have desires for other things, I will ask myself quietly to study what will be possible.

It will be interesting to see where Lloris ends up. After 11 years with Tottenham, it is hard to imagine him playing for another team. However, he did start his career in France before moving to the Premier League. He first played for clubs Nice and Lyon before making the move to Tottenham.
Lloris has hinted at a possible return to Nice this summer. He came first came through the club’s academy ranks before being promoted to the first team in 2004. He now looks interested in returning to his first professional club this summer.
“Nice is my city, my club, my roots. There is a season that must end, as best as possible, with the goalkeepers in place,” he said. “I am not demanding, I have never forced things. We’ll see where fate takes me.”

Lloris has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. At 36-years-old, Lloris still has a few professional years left in him. Expect him to go to a club where he will be the starting keeper for a few years.
While Lloris has been omitted from Tottenham’s preseason squad, the club has brought Harry Kane despite their star man being heavily linked with a move to Bayern. Tottenham is hoping to avoid losing him to the German giants and is trying to do whatever it takes to keep their goal-scoring talisman at the club.
