How Much Fantasy Value Does Jared Cook Have With The Chargers?

Let’s be honest; before you saw this blog did you even know that Jared Cook was set to suit up for Chargers this year? Don’t worry… I almost forgot too. It’s why it prompted me to write the post I did on Adam Trautman. Back to the topic at hand here: How much fantasy value does Jared Cook have with the Chargers? Probably more than we’re giving him right now.

Hunter Henry finished as the 15th highest scoring tight end a year ago. But did so in 14 games. Henry mostly finished lower on the list because of his lack of touchdown receptions finishing the year with just four. Over the last two years, Cook has scored 16 touchdowns and is more of a pure red zone threat.

Henry is the better talent but Cook could wind up becoming the better fantasy option based on his track record of scoring touchdowns. If Justin Herbert is the real deal, Cook could be in a prime spot for a really nice year. Especially when you consider how fantasy relevant Cook has been with Drew Brees who essentially had a dead arm a year ago.

It also comes down to how much you trust Mike Williams. Keenan Allen is awesome but he’s not the big bodied option in the red area. It seems like year after year, Williams just disappoints. He took a big step back after cashing in on a 1,000 yard campaign in 2019. His touchdown production has also been as inconsistent as it gets.

Long story short, Cook is going to get his looks. It’s probably an offense you also want to be a part of. Jared Cook has also been a hell of a lot healthier than Hunter Henry has been in the past. Cook is essentially free in fantasy drafts and will likely become a low end starter for you.
