Ian Rapoport reported that edge rusher Hasson Reddick received permission from the Philadelphia Eagles for a trade. Hasson Reddick is one of the best edge rushers in the NFL. Haason Reddick recorded an outstanding 11.5 sacks, 30 solo tackles, and 14 tackles for losses in 2023. In the past two years, he’s recorded 23.5 sacks.
Hasson Reddick is on a three-year, $45 million deal with the Eagles, signed in 2022. Reddick enters the final year of his deal this coming season. The Eagles will have a cap hit of 21.8 million in 2024, according to Over The Cap. The market for edge rushers has surged recently, with Watt, the Bosa brothers, and Myles Garret all making over $25 million per season.
NBC Sports Philadelphia reporterJohn Clark dropped a tea leaf that suggested the Eagles will only trade Haason Reddick if it’s good compensation and makes sense for them cap-wise. He’s amazing, but the Eagles might have to let him go. The Eagles only have around 20 million dollars in cap space, per Over The Cap. The Eagles don’t want to let him walk away without receiving anything in return. The Eagles also feel that they have other priorities to address. After an extremely disappointing season.
The Eagles mainly need to address the secondary and coaching. Their offense was outdated and predictable. Their mix of raw young cornerbacks who aren’t developed enough and veterans who are slow is not cutting it. Some notable free agents, at cornerback this offseason. Are L’Jarius Sneed and Jaylon Johnson. Both are great young cornerbacks and can provide immediate help to the Eagles’ defense.
