According to Rob Gronkowski, Tom Brady is retired, but he isn’t retired for good.
Brady’s longtime friend and teammate firmly believes that he won’t stay retired forever, but don’t expect him to be coming back after a year. Gronk believes that Tom Brady will take a few years off, then make his return to the NFL.
Full quote via PFT via NBCSports.com:
“The guy can play at any age,’’ Gronkowski told USA Today. “If he’s 50 years old he can still come back. I think he’s going to come back but in a couple of years. The guy’s a beast. He can play anytime.’’
Tom Brady is 44 years old, but his play this season would not show you he is that old. Brady was at the top or near the top of the league in passing yards, touchdowns, and completions. Brady showed that he can still play the game at a very high level despite the fact that in terms of the NFL, he is practically a fossil.
Rob Gronkowski knows a thing or two about retiring from the NFL, only to make a return after some time off. Gronk retired in March of 2019, only to return in 2020 and force a trade to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers, where Brady had recently signed a deal. If Brady does in fact return, it will be interesting to see if Gronk retires then comes back when Brady comes back. If Brady does in fact return, will he come back to the Buccanneers? Will Gronk force his way out of another team just to play with him? I guess only time will tell.
