Good news for fans of Silent Hill 2: Remake will remain faithful says developer

Silent Hill 2, a single-player survival horror video game published by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, is an iconic video game that released back in 2001. Silent Hill 2 was the sequel to the phenomenal original Silent Hill game, which released in 1999. These two popular games have led to a bounty of other games that make up the Silent Hill gaming franchise.

Now, fans are excited because Silent Hill 2 is getting a remake.

Konami, the publisher behind Silent Hill 2, has chosen a different studio to develop the remake. Bloober Team will be the ones in control of the remake, and it will be up to them to deliver a great product.

Still, Silent Hill fans have shown concern about how the new developers will handle the original content. However, Bloober Team’s chief marketing officer, Anna Jasińska, wanted to put these concerns to rest in an interview with Dread XP.

“We are focusing on bringing the distinct, visceral atmosphere back in the modernized SILENT HILL 2. Longtime fans shouldn’t worry about us “missing the point” while we’re livening up the title,” Jasińska said.

This is reassuring for Silent Hill fans as no gamers ever want to see an iconic old game be ruined in a bad remake. It appears that the Bloober Team has the fans’ best interests in mind.

The gaming series is known for its chilling atmosphere, and great soundtrack and audio design. It is one of the best psychological horror games of its time, so it will be interesting to see how much the game can be improved with the advancements present in next-generation consoles.

The Silent Hill 2 remake was announced back in October 2022 so there is not yet a confirmed release date.

A quick overview of the Silent Hill series

The original Silent Hill came out in 1999 on the first PlayStation. There are now around 18 different installments in the franchise, including main series games as well as spin-offs and a mobile game. Eight main series games have been released up to date.

The last main series installment was Silent Hill: Downpour which came out in 2012. This game was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 which are both now two generation-old consoles. It has been over 10 years since there has been a new addition to the main series and over twenty years since the original Silent Hill 2 was released.

Gamers are excited about the Silent Hill 2 remake, and remain hopeful that they will receive a terrifying and polished horror game.
