The New York Giants were defeated by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the playoffs. However the storyline wasn’t the Packers beating the Giants in the playoffs, it was the controversy of the Giants trip to Miami prior to the game. Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz, and Sterling Shepard as many people know took the trip to Miami on Monday during the week of the game. In a recent interview, Cruz confessed that that trip to Miami wasn’t the brightest idea.
“Looking back on it, it definitely wasn’t worth it,” Cruz said on SNY’s “TimeOut with Taylor Rooks” podcast. “At the end of the day, you want to put your mind in a place where you want to succeed at whatever your next task is, especially in a football setting and a football atmosphere.”
Whether the trip to Miami actually had an affect on the game is something we will never know. The receivers did not play well however which only added fuel to the fire. Cruz only caught 3 passes for 30 yards and Odell Beckham had 3 huge drops during the contest. The Packers beat the Giants 38-13 and the unnecessary distraction the Giants wide receivers caused may have played a role. Hindsight of course is always 20-20.
