Giants Sign WR Parris Campbell

The New York Giants have signed former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Parris Campbell, according to theScore’s Jordan Schultz.

New York is giving Campbell, 25, a 1-year/$3 million guaranteed prove-it deal. The deal could reach $6.7 million if Campbell hits his incentives.

Campbell had a career year last season, as he finally played a full 17 games for the first time in his entire career. The Ohio State product did not play more than seven games in any given season in his career, before breaking out in 2022. Because of this, he was able to field career highs in almost every stat. Campbell reeled in 63 catches for 623 yards and three touchdowns. Throw in two rushing touchdowns for a low-powered Colts offense last season.

New York has to be satisfied to be picking up a young receiver who for very cheap. $3 million of his contract is guaranteed, while the other $3.7 million can be gained with incentives. Some of those incentives include games played, per ESPN’s Pat Leonard.

A nice offseason continues for the Giants’ offense. The pickup of Campbell adds to the weapons that New York is stacking up on that side of the ball. They retained Daniel Jones on a big contract, franchise-tagged Saquon Barkley, re-signed Sterling Shepard, and, of course, traded for tight end Darren Waller.

As for the Colts, their long offseason continues. Indianapolis was putrid last season, posting a 4-12-1 record. They’ve let linebacker Bobby Okereke and now Campbell walk to the Giants. Indy also traded Stephon Gilmore to the Cowboys for a bag of chips. We know the Colts are in the tank this offseason, but they need a quarterback. That’s what they’re going to pick at the number four overall selection in this year’s NFL Draft.

Parris Campbell will be remembered in Indy for his inability to stay on the field, and then when he finally played consistently he didn’t have much help. For New York, this is just another weapon for this new-look Giants offense.
