Funny story, I just did the Club Fantasy show and went on a way too long-winded rant about how Oregon beat out Georgia for Jordan James when he was in high school in Nashville, Tennessee. This time, the inverse happened as Kirby Smart got the upper hand on his understudy Dan Lanning. The Dawgs have successfully won the recruiting battle for 2026 quarterback prospect, Jared Curtis.
Curtis also hails from Nashville and will stay in the South, making his way to Athens, Georgia, once his collegiate career begins.
I’m posting two videos below. One for the news announcement where Curtis reveals his choice. Then another from Dawg Nation, where he does an interview talking about why he chose Georgia.
“Definitely the stability of the coaching staff. Coach Smart, I know he’s not going anywhere. Coach Bobo, he’s locked in there,” Curtis told Dawgs247 previously. “Their development, I think that’ll make me a better person all-around.”
Curtis, 6-foot-3, 226, ranks as the nation’s No. 13 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to 247 Sports. That also includes being the 4th ranked quarterback and number one overall prospect in Tennessee. Anyway you slice it, it sure looks like the Dawgs landed their quarterback of the future.
This is a huge deal for Kirby Smart and the rest of the staff at Georgia. Mainly because they got snipped for Dylan Raiola and didn’t really have a stud QB waiting in the wings behind him beyond Ryan Puglisi.
