Garrett Whitlock Is Hurt, Out For 2024 MLB Season

The Red Sox have screwed this up so bad. Whitlock has so much damn potential but the Red Sox can’t make up their minds on how to use him. Constantly ramping him up and down while changing the role constantly. Whitlock belongs in the bullpen but the Sox once again tried to turn him into a starter.

Now Whitlock is hurt again after running around in 20 different circles… SHOCKER!

Whitlock, 27, undergo an internal brace procedure, which is expected to be a 12 month recovery period. That puts Whitlock out for the rest of the 2024 MLB Season and parts of the 2025 Season as well.

The former Yankees farmhand has pitched well too but he hasn’t made an appearance since April. In 18⅓ innings this year, Whitlock was 1-0 with a 1.96 ERA. During his career with the Sox, Whitlock is 18-11 with a 3.39 ERA in 103 appearances (23 starts). Another elbow problem will end his season.

It’s not the first pitcher in the Boston staff to have his elbow bark at him. The team got quite literally nothing out of Lucas Giolito too. The Sox spent a lot more money on Giolito too.

Making Garrett Whitlock A Starter Is A Mistake

The good news is Whitlock seems to be in pretty high spirits. Mass Live wrote an article about the fact that he’s using a rooster as a rallying cry.

Whitlock will be placed on the 60-Day IL and he will clear a 40-man roster spot.
