Auburn HC Hugh Freeze has landed a big-time commitment, as four-star Running Back Alvin Henderson has flipped his commitment from Penn State to Auburn. Freeze and Offensive Coordinator Derrick Nix had been pursuing Henderson for some time now and did not give up after his original commitment to the Nittany Lions.
Henderson, from Elba High School in Elba, Alabama, is the number Eight composite Running Back in the country, and the number 11 player in the state of Alabama. Standing at 5-foot-9, 200 lbs, Henderson broke state records in high school, totaling 7,274 yards and 132 total touchdowns.

“So honestly the main thing for me was ever since I’ve been committed to Penn State, Coach Freeze no lie texts me every day,” Henderson told Auburn Undercover. “Every day or every other day. He just broke it down to me, I talked to people that played there before me all running backs. Obviously that relationship previously with Coach ‘Lac but I’ve also been able to connect with Ronnie Brown. Not only that but just the resources and everything with everyone that works at Auburn, they told me that I could come there and make an impact.”
Alvin Henderson joins Ousmane Kromah, Shekai Mills-Knight, and Daune Morris in the backfield, all of whom will be competing for playing time. Henderson can play in a power or zone run scheme, as he has downhill speed but can use his powerful lower body to grind out yards. He should fit right in with SEC offenses and should make for an entertaining watch under Nix and Freeze. Auburn has made it a focus to keep the high school talent in-state, and continue that trend here.
