Class of 2022 Four-Star Jalen Hood-Schifino Commits to Indiana

Class of 2022 four-star shooting guard Jalen Hood-Schifino committed to Indiana today, per an announcement on CBS Sports HQ. Hood-Schifino chose the Hoosiers over the Tennessee Volunteers.

247Sports’ Composite Rankings have the future Hoosier ranked at No. 23 in the nation and as the third-best combo guard in the class. The Charlotte, North Carolina native had originally committed to Pittsburgh and Jeff Capel in 2019, but decommitted from the Panthers last summer.

When asked why he chose to join Indiana and new head coach Mike Woodson, Hood-Schifino said this:

“When Coach Woodson got the job, he called me, and he had watched film on me as soon as he got there. He was excited about me and told me about his vision for me right away. I just feel like they are the best fit and really match the way I play.”

Hood-Schifino is listed as a combo-guard, but said that the Hoosiers’ plan to make him a point guard.

“Indiana has recruited me as a point guard. That’s where I feel I’m best, with the ball in my hands. I feel like I’m a pretty good playmaker and able to get everybody involved and create for myself and do a lot to help my team win. Indiana fans should look forward to me being a player that is going to come in, work hard every day and try to be a winner.”

Woodson now has three hard commits in the 2022 recruiting cycle, with Hood-Schifino joining three-stars Kaleb Banks and CJ Gunn. The 6-5 combo guard plays for Montverde Academy in Florida and will look to help the Eagles repeat as GEICO national champions.
