Former Oklahoma State quarterback Spencer Sanders has decided to transfer to Ole Miss to join Lane Kiffin and packed QB room, according to 247Sports.com.
After an exceptional year with the Cowboys, Sanders teams up with Kiffin in hopes of earning a starting spot in the SEC.
Sanders had 25 total touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2022, leading the Cowboys to a 7-6 record on the year, but unfortunately got injured in a blowout loss at Kansas State.
Sanders will have to compete with starter Jaxson Dart at Ole Miss and several other talented quarterbacks, including Luke Altmyer and Kinkead Dent.
For this upcoming year, expect a heated battle between Dart and Sanders as both have the potential to start this year. With high hopes for this Ole Miss squad, it’s an interesting transfer move for Sanders, who is most likely looking to increase his draft capital for this year.
After a somewhat disappointing 8-5 campaign under Kiffin in 2022, there were rumors going around that he would leave the Rebels and head to a different school. But with Sanders and Dart both at Ole Miss, the Lane train could be chugging along once again in Mississippi.
As of right now, Ole Miss has the 20th ranked recruiting class, 13th ranked transfer class and 38th composite ranking, according to 247Sports.com. This collection of fresh talent will all look to add more firepower to Kiffin’s run-heavy offense. Most notably, Spencer Sanders will be the perfect piece to this Rebels’ attack due to his running capability — he ran for eight touchdowns and almost 400 yards last season.
