FloSports buys Trackwrestling as Flo announced on Friday, February 5th that they purchased TrackWrestling from NBC.
This is huge news for the wrestling world as the two primary media companies are aligning.
FloSports, a leading sports streaming and original content network, today announced the acquisition of Trackwrestling, an NBC Sports Group/SportsEngine, Inc. company and an established leader in wrestling event management tools, including all of the company’s assets and existing broadcast rights. The acquisition unites the wrestling community under one umbrella and bridges Trackwrestling’s powerful suite of event management and online registration tools with FloSports’ unsurpassed live and on-demand wrestling programming and industry-leading content, news and analysis featured on its award-winning digital platform. The well-respected team at Trackwrestling will also join FloSports bringing together some of the sport’s most-recognized experts for the first time and creating a single unparalleled offering to wrestling fans worldwide.
FloSports announcement
If I am being honest, which I always try and be, FloWrestling really needed the help. I was once a subscriber to their website because they had the streaming rights to most of the biggest matches in NCAA wrestling. I stopped paying the company after watching a few of their broadcasts and the quality was absolutely garbage. I mean they had the biggest dual meet I can remember in 2017 between Penn State and Oklahoma State and thousands of people paid to watch. The platform crashed and they had to stream the dual for free on FaceBook live.
I hope this purchase for them changes their whole streaming system, it needs to be revamped and improved if they want to remain the best media for wrestling in the country.
Trackwrestling team members will also come to Flo according to Christian Pyles
Flo needs some help behind the mic announcing their duals, and Shane Sparks along with the rest of the crew will for sure help with that issue.
Between original content both companies provide as well as their back end tournament systems this should be a good move to unite the wrestling community and showcase their skills.
TL//DR: FloSports buys TrackWrestling from NBC as the two media outlets will combine for a stronger, unified platform
