Florida Basketball: Alex Condon Returning for 2025-26

Florida Basketball got some great news on Tuesday. As first reported by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, Australian forward Alex Condon has withdrawn from the 2025 NBA Draft and will return to the defending national champions for the 2025-26 season.

NEWS: Alex Condon will withdraw from the NBA draft and return to Florida, he told ESPN.

Condon played an integral role in Florida's national championship run, and will have a major say in the Gators' hopes of repeating.

Condon confirmed the report minutes later with a post to social media.

Describing his motivations for returning, Condon said:

“It’s a really good situation waiting for me there. A great coach with Todd Golden. Teammates I won a national championship with. I have great chemistry with those boys. We have a good transfer class coming in. I expect guys to make a leap. My big man coach, Carlin Hartman, is returning, so I will keep developing my game with him.”

In his sophomore season, Condon made 35 starts and averaged 10.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 49.3% from the field. The 6’11” forward was named to the All-SEC Third Team. He tallied 12 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in Florida’s title-clinching win over Houston.

Florida Basketball 2025-26 Outlook

Florida Basketball now stands to return several key pieces from the national championship squad, including Condon, Thomas Haugh, and Rueben Chinyelu. Despite losing the guard trio of Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin, and Will Richard, the additions of Arkansas transfer Boogie Fland and Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee stand to give the Gators a strong backcourt.
