Five-Star EDGE Isaiah Gibson Commits To Georgia

After decommitting from a surprising original commitment to USC, five-star EDGE rusher Isaiah Gibson out of Warner Robbins, Georgia has his intent to play for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. It was just last week that Gibson announced his intent to walk away from his pledge to USC, and Georgia did not take long bringing him in to play at Sanford Stadium.

On Monday, Gibson announced his commitment to the Bulldogs after taking a pop-up visit to Athens, Ga. He had this to say earlier in the spring about how Athens is and what Georgia is like.

“Athens is just great. I feel like, to me, Athens is unmatched,” Gibson told Dawgs247 earlier this spring. “Football, outside of football, they meet every criteria for me.”

From a recruiting standpoint, it has been a rough couple of weeks for Lincoln Riley and USC, as they have missed out on two standout defensive prospects in the 2025 class. First, it was Justus Terry who decommitted (who is actually crystalballed to Georgia), and now Isaiah Gibson. How quickly the tides can turn, as one school potentially could have loaded up on big-time Defensive recruits, and in the blink of an eye one is gone and the other may be following suit.

Isaiah Gibson had taken three visits to Georgia since the middle of May, and it appears three times is in fact the charm for newly-extended Kirby Smart. He had a visit planned to Oklahoma, but has since canceled as he is now committed to Georgia. Gibson, the No. 17 prospect in the class and top EDGE prospect, can become an immediate difference-maker for this Bulldogs team that just keeps producing the best talent year after year.
