Well, that didn’t last long.
News broke just over one month ago that Lincoln Riley and USC were able to flip five-star DT Justus Terry from Georgia. This was viewed as a massive recruitment for USC, who is looking to make over a defense that was horrendous last season.
However, Justus Terry announced today that he has decommited from USC and is again looking for a college to play for. Terry will be taking an official visit to Alabam this week instead of the scheduled trip to USC. It sounds like Georgia has not stopped their pursuit of the number seven player in the 2025 class either. This is a brutal blow to the Trojans, who also lost out on another five-star defensive player, this time at EDGE in Isaiah Gibson.
I think there are two schools of thought that need to be considered here. One, I can understand a young player wanting to make the right decision for his future. This is potentially where you are spending the next three to four years of your life. However, this is the second team he has committed to and has since decided against. How can a program trust he is even going to walk on campus if he does decide to commit? I’d personally be leery of recruiting Justus Terry only because of how flakey he is showing up to be.
Justus Terry is probably going to make a fine player when he reaches College. But at this rate, there is no telling who he is going to end up actually playing for. I do not envy the coach and recruiting staff that try to keep him on campus, as he has already shown an inability to stay in one place for very long.
