Vendetta is having its first ever fantasy basketball draft today. I am not part of the mix. Somehow the NBA section of zero contributors found 10 teams to participate. Consider this my contribution to fantasy basketball content. It feels impossible to trust Kevin Durant in fantasy basketball.
I’m not going to sit here and pretend to predict injuries. I think it’s foolish to do that. In the case of Durant, let’s just go ahead and mark 20 games missed for him. I think that’s fair, not? Durant, 35, hasn’t played more than 55 games since the Achilles tear when he missed the entire 2019-2020 season.
The Suns are all in. They only care if Durant shows up for the postseason. Who knows how many games he will miss, we just know there’s almost no chance he plays in 70+. My question is how can you possibly pull the trigger on Durant in fantasy knowing that? Based on rankings, if you want Durant in fantasy he has to be your first round pick. That’s a no for me dawg.
Plus, in Phoenix, there are so many options now. Devin Booker and Bradley Beal are going to stack plenty of points and you can get either of them later.
It’s nothing against Durant personally. I love the guy and think he’s better than LeBron all-time. Yeah, I said it. Go kick rocks. This is fantasy and in fantasy, I don’t take losing as an answer. If I’m in a basketball draft, I’ll let someone else take Durant.
