Fantasy Hockey: Canucks Add Jake DeBrusk

After a rocky tenure in Boston, Jake DeBrusk has decided to sign with the fighting Rick Tocchet’s, AKA the Vancouver Canucks. We’re going to talk about everything you need to know in terms of fantasy hockey.

I’m not a fan of DeBrusk. Never have, never will be. He’s been pretty much worthless in terms of fantasy every single year of his career. He’s never had more than 50 points in any season of his career. His career high in goals is 27. If that production sticks, he’s still worthless in fantasy.

It’s also hard to see DeBrusk leap frogging past Brock Boeser. Given how good Boeser has been under Tocchet, I find it hard to believe he’s going to be replaced as the top option at right wing.

If you’re a DeBrusk believer, the hope is being next to Elias Pettersson sparks more offense in him. That could very well be the case. I’m just not spending an arm and a leg for a maybe. Keep in mind, Conor Garland is pretty good too and he could even move up in the lineup.

Jake DeBrusk: Officially Charmin Ultra Soft?

DeBrusk is a late round filer for me. Nothing more, nothing less. DeBrusk is still young and might have more in the tank. It’s just hard to believe a serious leap is coming based on the fact that he’s a pouter and Bruce Cassidy literally hated him. Who’s to say Tocchet, a guy who also cares about forechecking and defense, won’t put him in the dog house too?
