Fantasy Football: Broncos Add JK Dobbins
Training camp is inching closer, and some of these veteran running backs are finally finding homes. Nick Chubb just did so with the Texans (read here for his fantasy angle). Now we’re going to do the same with JK Dobbins landing in Denver. Any and all of the fantasy football angles, let’s have a chat and get right to them. If you have any follow ups to something I didn’t cover, feel free to comment!
Dobbins, 26, will now join a Denver backfield that also features RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie, and Audric Estime. If you use your brain, I think we can group these backs in their proper place.
Harvey comes in as the second round pick. He’s a smaller change-of-pace back whom I’m quite fond of. I would imagine that Harvey and McLaughlin will battle for those reps. If Harvey can prove he can pass protect and catch the football, McLaughlin’s role will shrink. If not, McLaughlin will get his scat back looks and remain a piece of the offense.
This says everything about Audric Estime. The guy is a turd who has no chance at being a legit NFL stud running back. This has been obvious since college. What’s obvious now is that Sean Payton got a good look at him at practice and said…. yeah, we can’t go into the season with Estime being the only power back on the roster.
Let’s also not forget this about Estime. It was Tyler Badie who was active for the playoff game loss against Buffalo, not Estime.
Dobbins steps in with blocking prowess and an ability to catch the ball as well. It’s very possible you see him featured on all three downs.
To finish things off here. This probably puts a dent in Harvey’s value simply because he may lose out on some touchdowns, but nothing drastic that prevents you from drafting him. Dobbins has stand alone value and may be in line to get near 900-1,000 yards again. McLaughlin has no value unless you’re in crazy PPR leagues. Just cut Estime and thank me later.
