Edge debunks rumors that WWE declined his contract extension terms

WWE legend Edge recently hyped up his final contracted match for the promotion, but it seems like he might not be leaving.

The Rated R Superstar has had a lengthy career in WWE which originally began in 1998. Since then, Edge has been repackaged as a “vampire,” a top Tag Team star, a major solo act and a Hall of Famer. With a massive legacy behind him, fans were concerned leading up to his match last week. The veteran emphasized that it would be the last match on his contract

Wade Keller from PWTorch recently reported that WWE had refused to meet Edge with his conditions for a new contract. Following the rumors, The Rated R Superstar took to social media in a clip to address the rumors. According to the star himself, this was not the case, and there were no issues between him and WWE.

“There’s nothing going on. There’s no hard feelings between me and WWE,” he said. “I love WWE. It’s my dream gig. It’s all I ever wanted to do, and I didn’t come at them with some kind of crazy contract or anything, and they didn’t deny me. I have a contract extension sitting in my inbox. I just don’t know what to do. The first time I had to retire, it was forced, and this time, the choice is in my lap, and it’s a lot harder.”

Based on his comments, it seems like the veteran is currently at a crossroads about his future and will likely have to make a big decision soon. With a contract in his inbox, all it’ll take for Edge is to simply agree to WWE’s terms. Some speculate that he could jump to AEW, and with the All In pay-per-view taking place this weekend, it could also be an opportune time for him to make his debut.

Edge could instead consider last week’s WWE bout as his retirement match

While many fans still want to see the Rated R Superstar continue his career, the 49-year-old might just be done with wrestling. Edge notably retired from the industry after a neck injury back in 2011, and for close to a decade it seemed final. However, in 2020’s Royal Rumble, he made a triumphant return and looked better than ever. However, it seems like the star could have ended his career last week, and might make a move toward the Silver Screen instead.

“WWE gave me that night Friday night in Toronto, and it was the best night of my career. A lot of people will say ‘you should retire at WrestleMania’ or this or that, but it’s not their career. Friday night was really special for me,” Edge said. “And I don’t know if that can be topped, to be perfectly honest. If we think we can, then great, but I need to sit with it, and, just know that whatever it is that I do, whether it’s Percy Jackson [Percy Jackson and The Olympians, Edge’s latest movie], which is coming out soon, or it’s wrestling, or it’s sitting in my rocking chair, it’s because I’m having fun.”

It remains to be seen if the Rated Superstar has moved on from competing in pro wrestling or not. With two young daughters, Edge could instead be looking forward to being present in his children’s lives. While he was cleared, he has been at risk since returning and retiring now could take away any threats of reinjury.
