Dylan Raioloa flipped from Georgia to Nebraska, but are we sure this was the right decision? Outside having family ties to Nebraska, are we sure this wasn’t an idiotic decision? It’s hard to view it in any other light.
What should matter is Raiola’s draft stock. I just have a hard time believing that the move to Nebraska is in the best interest of his NFL future. Just no way I buy that. Yes, quarterbacks have come from all over the place. Patrick Mahomes went to Texas Tech. Josh Allen went to Wyoming. Maybe it doesn’t matter. I just refuse to believe that he wouldn’t have helped himself by dominating at Georgia.
You know the phrase “Big 10 football” by now. It’s run the ball and play defense. Low scoring affairs where the quarterback manages the game. Why does Raiola want that for himself? You know what would help his NFL career? Dominating with Georgia and putting up big numbers at the SEC level.
We do get that Nebraska was 126th in the nation in passing yards last year. You’re asking a true freshman to change that reality. Good luck. It feels like a short-sighted decision to take the most NIL money and please the family. Why transfer to Buford High School in Georgia then? I don’t get it.
So what if he has to sit for a year behind Carson Beck? Maybe he needs to sit for a year. Arch Manning isn’t complaining right now. So you would rather not be at Georgia so you can get your face kicked in at Nebraska during that time? I don’t get it.
It just doesn’t feel like a smart call. Maybe the landing spot won’t matter. Maybe it won’t affect his NFL future at all. I just don’t know how you trust Nebraska in this spot to develop a high-end quarterback. Would you want Matt Rhule as your coach instead of Kirby Smart?
