The most electrifying man in all of sports entertainment Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has joined the Board of Directors of TKO Group, the company announced Tuesday.
The TKO Group is the parent company of both WWE and the UFC, which was formed after the two companies merged back in September of 2023. Johnson has not been in an official WWE match since 2016 against Erick Rowan in Wrestlemania 32, but now he will be behind the scenes with the parent company.
“I’m very motivated to help continue to globally expand our TKO, WWE, and UFC businesses as the worldwide leaders in sports and entertainment – while proudly representing so many phenomenal athletes and performers who show up every day putting in the hard work with their own two hands to make their dreams come true and deliver for our audiences,” Johnson said in a statement Tuesday. “Being on the TKO Board of Directors, and taking full ownership of my name, ‘The Rock’, is not only unprecedented, but incredibly inspiring as my crazy life is coming full circle. At my core, I’m a builder who builds for and serves the people, and Ari is building something truly game changing.”
“The Rock” will reunite with Vince McMahon, one of the founders of the TKO Group, and serves as the company’s executive chairman.
“Very few people on the planet understand the convergence of sports, entertainment, media, and business like ‘Rock,‘” TKO executive chairman Vince McMahon said in a statement. “We are proud to have him join the TKO board to help take our company to new heights.”
TKO Group co-founder and current CEO Ari Emanuel was delighted to have “The People’s Champ” join the Board.
“I am thrilled to partner with Dwayne and welcome his immense talent to TKO’s Board,” Emanuel said in a statement. “Dwayne brings an incredible track record of creating content and building globally recognized consumer brands, and he will play a key role in realizing our ambitions for TKO,”
The TKO Group also added Brad Keywell to the Board of Directors, increasing the board to 13 members, alongside Ari Emanuel, Jonathan Kraft, Dwayne Johnson and nine other members.
