Dustin Poirier Film Study

At UFC 291, Dustin Poirier will attempt to win the ‘BMF’ Belt as he squares off against Justin Gaethje. In anticipation of the bout, I put together a film study on Dustin Poirier. The purpose of the video is to dive into the technical aspects of Poirier’s skillset while using video to demonstrate the technique.

The Poirier film study dives into two strengths and weaknesses in his skills. Additionally, I close out the video with game plans for Poirier to find success as well as a game plan for a fighter to beat him. The game plan to beat Poirier gets into the technical weeds and gets lengthy, but it should provide some insight into how a fighter can beat ‘The Diamond’.

The film study goes over Poirier’s hammer block defense, counter hooks, his weaknesses against straight shots, and his willingness to close guard when on the bottom.
