Duncan Robinson, Pat Connaughton Rip Celtics Visiting Locker Room

Duncan Robinson and Pat Connaughton are both from the New England area but hate coming back home to play the Celtics. Is the visiting locker room really that bad at TD Garden? That’s what Robinson and Connaughton both say.

Back in the old days, visitors had to worry about whatever Red Auerbach has up to. The times may have changed but apparently, the visiting locker room in Boston still stinks.

Duncan Robinson and Pat Connaughton had this to say on a recent podcast episode:

“If you walked in and you said, ‘This is a high school locker room,’ I would say, ‘That’s a really [expletive] high school locker room,’” said Robinson.

Bucks guard Pat Connaughton, who was also a guest on the show, piled on with additional criticism. “I’m talking like, the carpet that’s matted down to the point where it’s worn out in areas,” he said. “The lockers are tighter than my shoulders, there’s only enough for 15 guys, maybe 16.”

Connaughton added the “old-school showers” have “rut all over the tile,” and claimed the ice baths are “unusable.”

“With it being Boston and us being two guys from the New England area and [the Celtics] being our favorite team growing up, it’s got to be on purpose,” said Connaughton.

Maybe some things never change. It’s probably on purpose, who are we kidding? TD Garden has always been a big advantage for Boston. It’s a real home court advantage. The Celtics went 28-13 at home a season ago. Then again, it doesn’t seem like Steph Curry had any complaints as the Warriors won another title.

Robinson and Connaughton currently play for Eastern Conference rivals adding some spark to these quotes. The Celtics eliminated the Bucks and Heat in consecutive rounds in the playoffs a year ago. Connaughton has a much safer spot on the Bucks roster as compared to Robinson. Max Strus has totally eaten into Robinson’s playing time and the contract looks like a total albatross. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Miami move on from Robinson eventually.
