ESPN isn’t done firing people. ESPN has fired another person and this time and it doesn’t even have to do with the original list of 20. This next firing comes as a bit of a surprise given the climate of the sports market. Is ESPN waving the white flag on trying to cover gambling? Doug Kezirian is the next victim of the ESPN layoffs and has bee fired. Kezirian has been informed his contract will not be renewed by ESPN.
Front Office Sports was the first to report the news:
“The contract of sports betting insider Doug Kezirian won’t be renewed, sources told Front Office Sports. Boxing analyst Andre Ward also announced his departure from the network on Twitter.”
Kezirian, a Las Vegas native, hosted a show called Daily Wager for ESPN. He’s been doing that since 2019 after originally signing on with ESPN as a SportsCenter anchor in 2012. Does this mean that show is in trouble? Kezirian hosted that show along with Joe Fortebaugh. Either Fortenbaugh is getting a new host or that show might end up being axed next.
It’s actually a shame because both Fortenbaugh and Kezirian are quality gamblers. Is ESPN failing to market the show? Is ESPN just not capable enough at knowing what to do with gambling content? By all accounts, Kezirian will land on his feet just fine. Multiple platforms have published stories in the past of Kezirian making it big on past bets.
The hits just keep on coming. ESPN is in real trouble. Is it fair to start questioning if ESPN is going to go totally bankrupt? That day might be here sooner than you think at this point.
