Dorian Finney-Smith has signed a four-year, $53 million deal with the Houston Rockets, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania first reported Monday.

Finney-Smith, 32, enters this summer as one of the NBA’s most coveted 3-and-D wings on the free agent market. He averaged 8.7 points and 3.9 rebounds on 41.1 percent shooting from 3-point range last season, surpassing his previous career (39.5 percent) set in 2021-22 with the Dallas Mavericks.

NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reported Sunday evening that Houston “emerged as the foremost frontrunner” to poach Finney-Smith from the Lakers.

The Athletic confirmed Monday ahead of free agency that the Lakers were “bracing” to lose Finney-Smith to a multi-year deal.

The Rockets have been among the league’s most active teams over the last several weeks. They acquired Kevin Durant, they extended Fred VanVleet to a more team-friendly contract and gave a rookie-scale extension former No. 3 pick Jabari Smith Jr.
