Donovan Smith 2025 NFL Draft Profile

I can’t imagine we’re going to take all day on a player who isn’t even the most recognizable Donovan Smith in the NFL. No, we’re not talking about the offensive tackle who played a long time for the Bucs. We’re talking about Houston quarterback Donovan Smith. Same name, much different player. Anywho, let’s get right to the 2025 NFL Draft profile for this one!

It’s really hard to start any place other than this. Smith was downright brutal this past year. Go head and blame Willie Fritz. Who knows, maybe he is a downgrade over Dana Holgersen. All I know is no coaching element can excuse how poor Smith played this year.

The Las Vegas native has size on him at 6-foot-5 but posted a 4-8 TD to INT ratio in nine games. Three rushing touchdowns can’t possibly make up for the poor throwing numbers. The weird part is he was pretty functional at least for a college QB the year before. It was a 22-13 TD to INT ratio filled with mistakes but at least he didn’t look like the Monstars zapped his powers because that’s how it looked this year.

Smith, a former three star athlete (non-QB), started his career at Texas Tech. Just never looked like a real quarterback and essentially lost his job.

This is the best way I would describe him. Did anybody watch Dorian Thompson-Robinson during this past year with the Browns? You know, the part where he looked totally lost? That was Smith basically in college. Has some tools but never ever looks like a real player at the position.

I have an undrafted grade on Smith and I can’t imagine anybody disagrees with me and takes him. If that were the case, I promise you he would have gotten an invite for the Combine. I’m not sure what more there even is to say here.
