UFC 276 proved to be the last ride for Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. After his bout with Jim Miller, Cerrone left his gloves in the cage as he announced he was stepping away from the sport of MMA.
“Thank you, Las Vegas,” Cerrone told Joe Rogan in his in-cage interview. “I’m glad my boys got to be here. Here they come now. I don’t love it anymore, Joe. It’s hard for me to get up (for fights), and this is the longest camp I’ve had in a long time. I’m not complaining to anybody, but I don’t love it anymore.

Cerrone has been a mainstay in the UFC for years and he has established himself as a legend of the sport, notching a record of 36-17. Cerrone has fought at the highest level of MMA for the majority of his career as 48 of his fights were in the UFC and WEC. Cerrone finished with 23 wins in the UFC — tied for the second-most in the history of the promotion.
Despite his success, Cerrone was never able to capture UFC gold. Instead, he will be remembered as one of the best fighters of all-time to never obtain championship status.
“I’m going to be a movie star, baby. It’s time to bow out. I’ve got to know when. This was the perfect event, man – a sold-out crowd in Las Vegas, talking to you. I’ve got my boys. It was one hell of a career, man. Hopefully one day, I’m in the (UFC) Hall of Fame. Thank you so much, UFC.”

Believe it or not, Cowboy is not kidding. He has already dabbled in film, and he has an acting career in the future. Cerrone has appeared in Spenser Confidential, The Commando, and The Equalizer 2 among other films. He is also set to star in Apartment 213 and Mojave Diamonds. The next time you see Cowboy will be on the big screen rather than the UFC octagon.
As far as his fighting legacy goes, Cerrone has carved out his spot in the UFC Hall of Fame. It is impossible to tell the story of the UFC without including the name Cowboy Cerrone. His name sits upon the majority of UFC records and he was a constant in the sport for over a decade.
It has been a memorable career for future movie star and Hall of Famer Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
