The Philadelphia Eagles and wide receiver DeVonta Smith have agreed to a three-year extension worth $75 million, keeping him with the team until 2028, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The former Alabama receiver will get $51 million guaranteed in the deal, who will be 29-years-old by the deal of the contract.
With the extension, the Eagles have also exercised the young receivers fifth-year option.
“DeVonta works extremely hard and earns everything he gets,” Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni said of Devonta Smith during the 2023 season. “He’s a pro in every sense of the word. Always prepared. Always up to the challenge. Loves to go out there and compete. He’s what you want in a football player.”
In three seasons in Philadelphia, Smith had 240 receptions for 3178 receiving yards, and 19. In five career playoff games, Smith caught 405 receiving yards and a single touchdown.
Smith, 25, played four seasons of collegiate football at the University of Alabama before being drafted by the Eagles. During his time in Tuscaloosa, Smith registered 3965 receiving yards and 46 touchdowns. Smith also won the Heisman trophy in his time in Alabama.
“DeVonta is an incredible person, incredible player; obviously homegrown, young guy,” Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman said in February when asked about a potential new contract for Smith. “Without getting into specifics, those are guys you don’t really want to leave.”
DeVonta Smith has yet to release a statement about his three-year extension with Philly.
The Eagles have been busy this off-season with the additions of Saquon Barkley and Devin White; also trading for quarterback Kevin Pickett.
