DeVonta Smith Declares Side In Wawa Vs. Sheetz Debate

DeVonta Smith is getting very familiar with Pennsylvania country. Smith is currently the lightest player on the Eagles roster listed at 170 pounds. In an effort to get bigger and stronger this offseason, the former first round pick out of Alabama has picked up a new addiction.

Don’t drive past a Wawa if Smith is in the car. You’re stopping and getting a hoagie first. Smith has admitted he’s addicted to their sandwiches.

“You know what’s crazy? I got a Wawa addiction. Honestly,” Smith said on Thursday. “Wawa sandwiches. I don’t know. I literally eat one every day for some reason.”

Smith, 23, is from Amite City, Louisiana, and then spent four years at Bama. They don’t have Wawa’s in the deep south. Smith has been introduced to PA life and he’s addicted. If the Eagles are smart, maybe they work something Wawa related into his next contract. May do wonders in getting Smith to sign a team-friendly deal.

The former Heisman winner’s go-to order, in case you were curious, is the honey smoked turkey. Could certainly pick a worse option.

Head coach Nick Sirianni has no issue with Smith’s Wawa addiction. He likes what he’s seen from the second year pro:

“He’s gotten bigger, he’s gotten stronger, he feels like he’s running faster out there,” head coach Nick Sirainni said recently. “And then just everything with his game has gotten better because that’s just the way DeVonta works.”

Just so we’re clear, I’m a Sheetz guy but I’m willing to strike that from the record depending on which side puts money in my pocket. Sheetz’s mozzarella sticks just hit built different. I don’t need anything else. I’m good with a Slurpee and some of those Motz sticks.

The size questions are always going to follow Smith until he has one of those Marvin Harrison type seasons.

I would expect Smith to have a pretty strong year two campaign. I’m higher on him than most others in the fantasy community. I think his production won’t be too far away from what AJ Brown produces in terms of fantasy. Ja’Marr Chase and Jaylen Waddle have gotten their respect. Smith is next.

Side Note: Here are my draft notes on DeVonta Smith just in case you were curious.
