Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White will sign with the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal worth up to $7.5 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Devin White played in 14 games last season, registering 83 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and had two interceptions for a return of 36 yards. In the two games that Tampa Bay played in the playoffs last season, White had three total tackles while he was dealing with a foot injury.
The Eagles will be bringing in a player who helped defeat them in the playoffs last season. The Eagles lost to the Buccaneers in the NFC Wildcard 32-9. He was also apart of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad that won Super Bowl LV against the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9.
Devin White was selected by the Buccaneers as the No. 5 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft after three seasons at LSU. In just his second season in the league, White was made a captain with the Buccaneers.
White, 26, will join Philadelphia after spending five seasons with the Buccaneers, where he was also a Pro-Bowler in the 2021-22 season. White was a member of the second-team All-Pro in the 2020-21 season.
This will be a good move for the Eagles, as they sign a young player with an amazing upside on a cheap deal.
The Eagles have been making moves this offseason, including signing two-time Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley. But there is an investigation being done by the NFL about tampering with the Eagles and Barkley. So let’s see what happens next.
