Demetrius Knight was one of five South Carolina players during the 2025 NFL Draft. We’re covering some of the strugglers left behind that I didn’t hit prior to the draft. Everything you need to know about the Gamecocks linebacker, we’re going over it in this profile!

Knight, 24, was recruited as a duel threat quarterback during the 2019 cycle. The Locust Grove, Georgia, native was ranked as the 34th QB and 128th ranked player in the state. He spent four years at Georgia Tech and was essentially a hybrid pass rusher who didn’t produce at all. Knight popped when he transferred to Charlotte where he made First-team All-American Athletic Conference. Then finished off strong at South Carolina.

I have no stock notes on Knight. Mostly because I knew he was an older guy who really was a converted linebacker figuring things out late. This past year, he posted 82 tackles, 8 TFLs with 2 sacks, and an INT. I watched a lot of South Carolina. Frankly, I’m not sure he was the best linebacker on his own team. Bam Martin-Scott had a claim for that honor as well, and he didn’t get drafted.

Also, the Combine here was trash. You can tell he’s not a natural linebacker. When you’re getting yelled at by the coaches for bad eye level, there’s a problem in more ways than one. 4.58 speed is fine. 22 bench press reps at least shows he has some semblance of a work ethic. I don’t see some sort of twitchy athlete who has even further room for growth.

Sometimes you just have to use your eyes. He’s just not in terms of being an ace in short area. For a guy who was a pass rusher, there’s zero sack production. Not to mention the fact that his coverage ability isn’t there either.
