David Fizdale: Knicks Didn’t Believe They Could Win

Tell me if you heard this before: The Knicks are bad and dysfunctional. David Fizdale is noticing it. The Knicks don’t even believe they can win games now. This time it was against the Milwaukee Bucks. This article will be relevant for time to come because just replace Bucks with whatever team they lose to and there you have it. David Fizdale called out his team  via Steve Popper of Newsday:

“Whatever word you want to use for it, lack of tenacity, intensity, focus, competitiveness,” Knicks coach David Fizdale said after the carnage was over. “I don’t feel like we came into this game believing we could win this game and that was what was most disappointing. I felt like going into every other game we felt like we could come out, compete, and beat anybody. Tonight, we didn’t come out with the idea that we could beat this team.

“I don’t know why. But it was definitely there. We didn’t come out with the right mindset for whatever reason, whatever my motivational talk was didn’t take hold I guess. We’ll bounce back. We’ll get into the film. We’ll own it. we’ll watch it and we’ll get ready for another very good basketball team.”

Please tell me that you can’t use that quote for ANY game that the Knicks lose. I feel for David Fizdale, I don’t think he’s a bad coach at all, he’s just in a bad situation that is not going to change. The Knicks’ problems start from the top and trickle all the way down to the roster. That roster was not meant to succeed, it just wasn’t. They have Power Forwards galore over there and not much talent elsewhere. They do have bright spots on that team with how Julius Randle, Marcus Morris with his leadership, and rookie RJ Barrett have been playing. But other than that, it’ll be another bad year for the Knicks. With those 3, that is a good core to build around. But that roster just doesn’t make any sense. The Knicks are bad plain and simple, and it doesn’t look like that’ll change for awhile. It doesn’t matter what coach they have there, other issues keep that team from being decent at least.
