Dave Portnoy has already casted some doubts about Victor Wembanyama. After being the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, the French sensation has a pretty notable critic against him. The Barstool Sports founder took to Twitter and claimed that he would not be able to hold up with the league’s physicality, but did qualify it by saying he would draft him too.
Don't get me wrong I'd obviously draft him but I feel like guys like that always break down

Out of everything, that’s probably the only knock against Wembanyama. At 7-foot-5, he has unbelievable ball skills and shooting. He’s basically a point guard in an oversized center’s body.
Anyone can see that Victor is quite frail. He has long and skinny limbs, very reminiscent of a rookie Kevin Durant. However, there is no doubt that the San Antonio Spurs of all teams will develop him the right way. A few years of eating and exercising at the NBA level will likely do wonders for the 19-year-old. There are other potential red flags, but now is the time to wait and see how he adjusts to the main show.
There is no doubt Wemby is one of the most hyped prospects we’ve ever seen in American pro sports. Some have even said they would probably take him over a rookie LeBron James if they were in the same draft. He’s obviously done everything right up to this point and seems like a very humble, friendly and overall nice guy.
But we haven’t seen him step on an NBA court yet. All of this will mean nothing if he doesn’t live up to the immense hype.
Victor Wembanyama is officially a San Antonio Spur. With that also comes some scrutiny, and it’s Dave Portnoy of all people who are sounding the alarms. Between now and October we will be hearing a lot more noise, both good and bad.
