Sports Media
The NHL media is currently touring around all the teams as the season is set to open sooner rather than later. Quote machine Darryl Sutter was asked about his former player, Matthew Tkachuk, and you just knew there would be fireworks. I’m quite sure after watching this video that Suter is not too fond Tkachuk.
Sutter was asked to compare Tyler Toffoli to Tkachuk since that’s who will be replacing him on Calgary’s top line this season. His response is just chef kiss.
“One guy’s won Stanley Cups and been a big part of long playoff runs,” Sutter said.
Now that’s something. Technically, Sutter is correct. Toffoli has been on a team that won a championship. Sutter coached Toffoli in Los Angeles when the Kings won the Cup in 2014. Sutter being in Calgary was a big reason why the Flames went out to acquire him.
BOOOO, Tkachuk! You’re NOT a winner! I guess that’s what Sutter is going for, right?
We’ll see who gets the last laugh this upcoming year. I’ll say this, Calgary is damn good and might even be better than they were a year ago. Tkachuk is a huge loss but Florida paid a king’s ransom to get this trade done. The Panthers very well may be screwed here coming up. Just saying it’s in the range of outcomes.
When the Panthers play the Flames this year, it’s going to be must-see TV. Calgary plays in Florida on November 19th. The Panthers come to Calgary on November 29th. Get your popcorn ready and mark your calendar.
