The Giants are making a fool out of themselves on the Hard Knocks series, but it might not all be bad in the Meadowlands. The early reports on Malik Nabers have been super encouraging. Teammate Darius Slayton believes that Nabers is essentially a clone of Ja’Marr Chase.
“He reminds me of Ja’Marr Chase; it’s like a clone,” fellow Giants receiver Darius Slayton said on the “All Facts No Brakes” podcast with Keyshawn Johnson.
Slayton added, “Malik’s about 6-foot; they’re about the same size. Dimensionally, they’re about the same. His body movements, it’s actually kind of weird watching him move around. He’s really talented. He’s got good hands.”
If I can weigh in on here now, I think the comp is fine. It’s just on the rich end for me. You can read the profile I did on Nabers here, but I don’t see him quite as good as Justin Jefferson or Chase. Do people forget that Chase had 20 receiving touchdowns as a sophomore at LSU? That’s just a different level of rarefied air.
The Giants should probably worry more so about how they’re going to get Nabers the football. Good luck with that whole Daniel Jones thing for another season. Hey, if they doesn’t work out, they have Drew Lock now!
For fantasy, it’s going to be hard to trust Nabers until he gets a real quarterback. It is what it is. The positive is that Nabers appears to getting high reviews from his teammates.
