Anthony Richardson has some competition!?! Maybe? Daniel Jones has signed a deal with the Indianapolis Colts and it’s not exactly for peanuts.
Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the news. The details of the agreement with Indianapolis are $14 million for one year.
Jones, 27, ended last season on the Vikings roster after being waived by the Giants. The season before that, Jones underperformed prior to going down with a season-ending knee injury. Despite all of the failures, the former Duke product still cashes in pretty well here.
Do we have a real quarterback battle with the Colts? That part remains to be seen. It’s hard to be totally convinced that Jones will even help Indy. We’re talking about a guy who needs to run QB draw constantly to be effective but can’t stay healthy enough to maintain that playing style. In fairness, Anthony Richardson has struggled staying healthy too so maybe the Colts think they they have two guys to run into the ground and one is bound to stay healthy.
The pressure is on with the Colts. They have to win or people need to start losing their jobs. I’ve said it once and I’m going to say it again. Blake Bortles has won the AFC South more recently than Chris Ballard. I have no idea how Ballard still has a job but the longer that statement rings true, the hotter his seat gets.
Feel free to comment. Do you like or hate this deal for the Colts? Let your voice be heard!
