Daniel Cormier is the Latest Athlete to Join Colin Cowherd’s The Volume

Former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has joined Colin Cowherd’s podcasting network The Volume, according to the New York Post.

Cormier joins other elite athletes including Super Bowl winner Richard Sherman and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green in joining The Volume.

Starting in the UFC’s light heavyweight division, Cormier became the division’s champion when he beat Anthony Johnson for the vacant belt in 2015. The belt became vacant after Jon Jones was stripped of the belt in relation to a hit-and-run accident.

Three years later in January of 2018, Cormier moved up to heavyweight and knocked out Stipe Miocic to become the second fighter to have ever held multiple belts at the same time. He fought three more times at heavyweight but lost his last two fights against Miocic to lose the belt. After his second loss to Miocic, Cormier retired from the sport.

Since his retirement, Cormier has been a staple in the UFC commentary booth and his knowledge on the mic is second to none. He has been the color-commentator for UFC pay-per-view events. He has also been a member of the ESPN podcast “DC and RC” which he does with former Super Bowl champion Ryan Clark.

The podcast with Clark is very entertaining and very informative about what is going on in the UFC. This is part of why it is a good move for him to join Cowherd’s The Volume.

Working alongside Colin for several years, it was clear he had an entrepreneurial spirit and an eye for talent. It’s no surprise that he’s built The Volume into a successful media company that features some of the most compelling voices in sports,” Cormier said in a statement. “I’ve watched closely as Draymond and Richard have produced must-watch shows that drive the conversation. I’m excited to bring that same approach to The Volume’s MMA coverage and deliver fans insightful analysis and provocative discussions.”

With Cormier’s vast knowledge and experience of MMA, he is a perfect fit to lead The Volume’s MMA coverage.

The Volume was started in 2021 by Cowherd, a host on Fox Sports, and has quickly risen to one of the premier podcast platforms. Recently, The Volume has begun using video platforms as well as podcast platforms for their shows.
