When Dalvin Cook signed with the Jets, we knew one thing to be true. Cook was signing up to play for money rather than happiness. It made no sense for Cook to turn the Dolphins down other than for financial reasons. That greed by Cook has backfired. Not that anyone should be surprised by that outcome.
The former Florida State product has made no secret about the fact that he’s frustrated about his current situation with the Jets.
“It’s something I can’t control, that my name is being floated around in trade rumors,” he said. “It might be a good thing. Maybe [it’s] a bad thing.”
“Of course it’s frustrating,” Cook said. “I’m an honest person, man. I work. I want to play. That’s just anyway. And, yeah, it’s frustrating. It’s new for me. I come from getting the ball 20 times a game, or however many times. Of course it’s frustrating. It’s something that I’ve been adapting to.”
Everybody is at fault here. Cook is an idiot for signing with the Jets. Let’s start there. Through six games, Cook is averaging 2.8 yards per carry. He’s outraged that Breece Hall , who is averaging 6.5 yards per carry, is seeing all the work. Look in the mirror buddy. Like seriously. You could have been part of that explosive Miami offense with Mike McDaniel dialing up creative run plays. Nobody forced you to be a greedy you know what.
The Jets should be blamed here too. What were you doing giving Cook $7 million? With Hall, Michael Carter, and rookie Israel Abanikanda on the roster.
I guess the real takeaway is we shouldn’t be surprised if a trade does go down. The odds that Cook finishes the year with the Jets appear slim.
