Dallas Cowboys 2019 NFL Draft War Room

2019 NFL Draft
The Ezekiel Elliott pick has worked out well for the Dallas Cowboys. Let’s dive into their war room to see what we can expect during the 2019 NFL Draft! (Kamil Krzaczynski/USA TODAY Sports)

The Dallas Cowboys are an elite coach and quarterback away from winning a Super Bowl. Instead, we have average Dak Prescott and below average Jason Garrett who does nothing except clap. Everything else is great. Check the box at every other spot. Now as we head into the 2019 NFL Draft, Dallas doesn’t have a first round pick to work with. Let’s head inside the war room. What can we expect from the Dallas Cowboys during the 2019 NFL Draft?

Second Round (Pick 58) – Let’s grab an upgrade over Jeff Heath. Xavier Woods is pretty good. Then we have Jeff Heath who sucks. Darian Thompson was retained but he also sucks. It’s hard to know what safety might be on the board but there are some to choose from. Juan Thornhill of Virginia, Nasir Adderly of Deleware, Darnell Savage of Maryland, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson of Florida are all options. Savage might be my favorite. Love his feet. He also performed really well at the Senior Bowl. The Cowboys should attack this position eventually.

Third Round (Pick 91) – DeMarcus Lawrence has been franchised two years in a row. Taco Charlton has just been okay. Dorance Armstrong barely contributed as a rookie. Outside of that, Dallas doesn’t have much. They could use another pass rusher. A guy like Carl Granderson makes some sense. High motor edge rusher. Worst case, he comes in as a sub and hunts. That’s the type of guy you want. Regardless, attacking this position makes a lot of sense.

Dallas has a really talented team. Maybe they want to draft another tight end. Who knows if Jason Witten actually has any juice left? Some offensive line depth never hurts. Travis Frederick may not come back so getting some lineman sounds like a good idea.
