Kirk Cousins, Derek Carr, and Dak Prescott. They’re all the same guy and two of the three teams that employ those quarterbacks may move on this offseason. In fact, if Dallas were to move on from Dak, it would be three-for-three teams in terms of teams moving on that drafted those players. It sure sounds like Dak’s seat is getting warm. Dallas would love to have their hands on CJ Stroud if possible.
“The Cowboys find themselves “intrigued” by Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, an NFL source tells CowboysSI.com.”
“I don’t know the ‘how,”’ the source said. “But (Dallas is) absolutely intrigued by Stroud.”
“Stroud is of course something other than “developmental” in the sense that he is considered to be among the top two quarterback prospects in this draft, alongside Alabama’s Bryce Young – and Dallas has the No. 26 pick in the first round.”
Can’t say this is super surprising. Given the way Dak finished the year, Jerry Jones would have to be clinically insane to not at least explore alternatives. The only problem is it’s probably too late and this is what he’s signed up for. Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott. When your head coach and quarterback are C to B level talent, you will continue to come up short each and every time.
The problem here is the Cowboys own the 27th overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. That’s just an impossible area of the draft to trade up in order to land Stroud. The former Ohio State quarterback could be taken as high as two and likely won’t fall past Carolina at 9. Good luck moving that far up in this draft.
