Corey Davis is Expecting to Work with Sam Darnold

Corey Davis told New York Jet’s reporters that he signed with the team expecting to work with Sam Darnold. The Jets hold the number two overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and many think they might take someone in this draft class and start over at the position.

It is no surprise to Vendetta readers, but the NFL draft coverage at this site is a popular topic. It seems like everyone has an opinion of what the Jets should do. Kam says the Jets should move on from Sam Darnold, but I am a Jets fan so I have to say my part. This is a quarterback-heavy draft and even with all the quality prospects we could see, Trey still thinks the Jets should draft Justin Fields.

Sam Darnold has been in the worst situation in New York, but Corey Davis is a bright light for his future. I am taking this as a good thing for his future. The organization is telling free agents that they will be working with the guy who is starting his fifth season with his third coach.

Corey Davis believes Robert Saleh is the guy to right the ship. The former 49ers defensive coordinator is working with General Manager Joe Douglas, and hopefully, they collaborate on some quality picks.

I am a Sam Darnold “stan” as we young people are supposed to say. I was excited when they drafted him, but he never had a decent coach to help develop a young quarterback. He came in with Todd Bowles who is a great defensive coordinator, but not close to an offensive guru.

Then they hired Adam Gase in what will be a move that will be laughed at for years to come. They should have fired him earlier, but again another guy who stunted Darnold’s growth.

Long story short, this is a good sign for Darnold and his supporters when Corey Davis openly says he is expecting to work with him.
