Cooper Kupp is coming home. After playing collegiate ball at Eastern Washington, Kupp will return to the state of Washington and has signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks. Kupp isn’t just returning home. He’s got the double package of the revenge game factor twice a year on the schedule too…
NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport was the first to report the news:
Kupp, 31, will sign a three year deal with Seattle that will earn him an AAV of $15 million per year. Not a bad deal for Kupp who is a total stud when healthy.
John Schneider is out here playing chess not checkers. Dude is killing the offseason. They trade Geno Smith, get a free third round pick, and then upgrade the position with Sam Darnold at somehow an even cheaper number.
They’ve now repeated the formula with DK Metcalf. Seattle trades Metcalf to Pittsburgh, the Steelers have to give Metcalf $30 million per year, then pick up Kupp for half the price while collecting a second rounder.
Hard to complain with that strategy. Seattle has some serious extra draft capital to really make something happen here.
Of course, Kupp staying healthy will be the biggest factor. Something that didn’t happen last year. He hasn’t played a fully healthy season since 2021 when he tore the world up. If Kupp still has gas left in the tank, this is a great deal for Seattle who really only had Jaxon Smith-Njigba prior to today.
