Colston Loveland 2025 NFL Draft Profile

I actually think this Colston Loveland profile won’t take forever to cover. Mostly because there was no point in even really watching him or any of the Michigan guys this past year after suffering from the Harbaugh hangover. With that said, lets hit the 2025 NFL Draft profile on the Michigan tight end!

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2Week 4Week 10ReliaQuest Bowl

Loveland, 20, checks in at 6-foot-5, 248. Those are his Combine numbers. It’s also the only thing we have to work with as he’s recovering from offseason surgery that he should be fine from long term. The Gooding, Idaho product was the number one ranked player in his state and was a four star prospect coming out of high school.

After showing some flashes as a freshman, he really burst onto the scene as a sophomore. In 2023, Loveland posted 45 receptions for 649 yards and four scores. This past year, his numbers were somehow better with a clear coaching and quarterback downgrade. In 2024, he notched 56 receptions for 582 yards and five scores. Something that should probably be viewed as more of a positive than it will be.

The stock report notes are there for you at the top, but honestly, you’re better off looking at all the notes from the year before. Obviously, he wasn’t draft eligible, so it’s mostly sprinkled in there, but he was a big part of that championship Michigan team with JJ McCarthy and others.

Would you rather have Loveland or Emeka Egbuka? I can guarantee those conversations are going on in several draft rooms. Both function best as a slot wide receiver. It’s about how you like your steak cooked kinda thing? Except for steaks it’s medium rare and in this case, I’m not sure there’s a correct answer. Loveland can block but he’s a Big F if you want to get the most out of him.

Runs real routes. Catches the football well. Has speed to win his matchup. Linebackers won’t cover him. He’s a real weapon, no way around it.

I think Colston Loveland is a second-third round player. No way he’s a first round player given the sense that he doesn’t come in that Gronk in-line mold prototype. I like this player, and he can run real routes. Certainly a contributor. Just not sure he’s a number one tight end and may function best in two tight end looks where he can do his thing as a pass catcher. The Sam LaPorta vibes are probably accurate here.
