Chris Paul reveals how much longer he plans to play in NBA

Legendary point guard Chris Paul is nearing the end of a Hall of Fame career.

The 40-year-old just became the 11th player to ever play 20 NBA seasons. He is a free agent this offseason, so he’s in no rush to choose where he could cap off his career … but it appears as if the 2025-26 season will be Paul’s last.

“At the most, a year,” Paul recently told Jemille Hill. “I just finished my 20th season, which is a blessing in itself.”

“How much longer do you intend to play?”

Paul played all 82 games for the San Antonio Spurs last season, averaging 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.3 steals on 42.7 percent shooting and 37.7 percent from 3-point range.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Paul is deciding between two teams: The Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns, two former teams of his. I can imagine that he would still have a legitimate role in their respective rotations, even if he’s not a full-time starter. I don’t think he’ll have a shortage of suitors regardless, but those two teams are close to home (Los Angeles), where he wants to be close to.

He’s not only one of the greatest point guards of our generation, but of all time. He’s second all-time in assists and third all-time in assist percentage; there’s a reason why he’s nicknamed “The Point God,” leading the NBA in assists five times in a single season–most recently in 2021-22.

If this is Paul’s last year: Congratulations on a legendary career, and we’ll see you in Springfield.
