The Kansas City Chiefs have signed linebacker Nick Bolton to a three-year, $45 million extension with $30 million guaranteed, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport was among the first to report Sunday.
Bolton, who turns 25-years-old on Monday, has been a very integral piece to the Chiefs’ front-seven since getting drafted in the second-round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
He appeared in 16 games as a rookie, tallying 112 tackles–including 70 solo–with 11 tackles-for-loss and one fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Bolton followed suit by recording 180 tackles (second-most in NFL) in 2022 with 106 tackles across 16 games a season ago. He also had a career-high three sacks in 2024 with 11 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, six pass deflections and one forced fumble.
The 5-foot-11 linebacker now owns the 15th-biggest contract with 18th-most guaranteed money amongst linebackers in the NFL, according to Spotrac.
The Chiefs still need to find a way to under the projected $279.2 million salary cap before the new league year, which starts next week. They are one of four teams–others being the Bills, Falcons and Saints (annual)–to be over the cap entering the 2025 NFL offseason, according to Over The Cap.
