The San Diego Chargers have fired their head coach Mike McCoy. ESPN’s Adam Caplan was the first to report the news.

The Chargers finished the season with a disappointing record of 5-11. McCoy spent 4 seasons with the Bolts finishing his tenure at 27-37. McCoy’s best season came in 2013 where the team made a trip to the playoffs off a 9 win season. The Chargers may wind up joining the Rams in Los Angeles. With the expected move, the coaching change from McCoy made a lot of sense.

For McCoy, he becomes a big candidate for an offensive coordinator job. He was Denver’s offensive coordinator from 2010-2012. San Diego becomes the 6th team that will be searching for a new head coach in 2017.
