Lonnie Walker didn’t make the Celtics opening night roster and was forced to take a deal overseas instead. What’s worse is the Celtics didn’t bother filling out their roster. Boston has 14 players on their roster leaving the last spot open. A move that will save the C’s roughly $10 million in luxury taxes by keeping the spot open.
Sorry, not sorry, but this is nonsense and it’s not arguable.
Imagine an NFL team only carrying 52 players because they didn’t want to pay to fill out the roster.
Imagine an MLB team only carrying 24 players because they didn’t want to pay the tax on the extra guy.
It’s a joke and it’s something that shouldn’t even be allowed CBA wise. Every team should be forced to fill out there roster. But Adam Silver isn’t interested in employing more players. He’s only interested in crying about more parity despite every ounce of evidence super teams benefit the league more than they hurt from a viewership standpoint.
Can we all agree on one thing? If your team is historically good and just won a championship, you don’t then get to cry about how poor you are. Yeah, I’m sure you didn’t make any money by winning the NBA Finals.
By the way… Lonnie Walker would be perfect for this team. They need one scorer off the bench who can play the wing spot. Jordan Walsh is unplayable and brings nothing to the table. If you want to cry poor, maybe start by getting rid of Walsh. Jaden Springer never sees the floor either. Walker would actually have a spot on this team and it’s a joke.
