I tried to warn you. Brad Stevens doesn’t have it under control, and it’s officially been confirmed that the Celtics had bad forward-thinking ability with Anfernee Simons.
It’s no longer arguable. Stevens botched the offseason, and you simply can’t hide this evidence. Not only did Stevens get swindled in the Jrue Holiday trade, but he also has zero plan when it comes to Simons.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on the Hoop Collective podcast, he reports that the Celtics are still shopping Simons.
“I have talked to other teams that have said the Celtics are actively trying to trade Anfernee Simons,” Windhorst said. “Whether they can or not is another (thing).”
Absolutely disgusting. How do you trade Jrue Holiday for a player you’re not even sure if you want to keep? Explain to me how it makes a lick of sense to remain over the apron, that forces you to make a terrible Porzingis trade, for a player you’re not even sure you want to keep?
It doesn’t make a lick of sense, and there’s no defending it. Again, how do you trade for a player you’re actively trying to get rid of as the only return for Holiday? You can’t argue it.
Bad forward-thinking. I’d argue egregious forward-thinking that should put Stevens on the unemployment line. You can’t trade for Simons and then be unsure if you want to keep him with zero talks on a future contract extension. Absolutely gross and indefensible.
So here’s the truth on what happened. Porzingis and Holiday were dealt for zero foundational roster players and zero draft picks.
And this is your god GM?
