In what was a stacked 2020 wide receiver class, CeeDee Lamb was the third receiver taken off the board, but I believe he should have been the first wideout taken in the draft. He should have easily been a top-10 pick but he fell all the way down to the Cowboys at 17. The Raiders selected speedster Henry Ruggs III with the 12th overall pick but he disappointed in 2020 and the fact that the Raiders chose Ruggs over Lamb still boggles my mind. Ruggs is the typical Al Davis pick, as he always tried to draft the fastest receivers to best utilize the vertical game, but I think it is hard to pass up on a guy like Lamb who looks like he can be the best receiver in the league.
Based on an eye test, CeeDee Lamb had it all. He made quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Kyler Murray’s jobs way easier during his stay at the University of Oklahoma, putting both into Heisman contention. He can go up to catch the football over defensive backs with ease and can put constant pressure on the defense with his ability to gain yards after the catch. Ruggs and Jerry Jeudy, who was selected 15th overall by the Broncos, can still turn around the bumpy starts to their NFL careers, but I see Lamb as the talk of the town for the next 10 years.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is returning from the horrific injury he suffered in 2020. Fresh off a new deal, he will be determined to take the Cowboys back to the playoffs. He has a lot of help at the receiver position between CeeDee Lamb, Amari Cooper, and Michael Gallup. Expect Lamb to be Dak’s favorite target in year two after a full offseason together under their belts. Lamb still put up decent numbers his rookie season catching passes from eyesore Andy Dalton, finishing with 74 catches and just under 1,000 yards.
I am predicting CeeDee Lamb to clear 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in the 2021 season and he will solidify that he was the best receiver in his draft class. Everything we have been seeing in training camp illustrates that the game has slowed down for Lamb – some of the plays he has made are ridiculous. He cooked Jalen Ramsey like it was nothing.
Making circus catching in the endzone and looking to be one of the biggest red-zone threats in the league.
Lamb is projected to go late second round or in the third round this year in fantasy drafts. If he falls to you in the third round you have to absolutely take him, as he can be a WR1 for your fantasy team. There are worries about him because Dallas’ offense has so many weapons, but he is simply too talented to not have in your lineup every week. Lamb will be looking at 80 plus catches with at least 10 touchdowns. That kind of production in the third round will tremendously help your fantasy team. Lamb is going to show why he is the best receiver out of his draft class in 2021. Mark my words.
